PDP or not PDPThe PDP clan isn't longer the same. Almontaine left the clan. The "PDP" name is gonna stay, but the meaning of the "D" becomes now undefined, nothing but a memory of the past.

13/09/2008 - Tank Wars server, again
Okay, all members know it already by now, anyhow...We have a fourth server, I'm giving one more chance to the Frontline mod.
Our newer members maybe don't remember it, but we had already a frontline server two times in the past.
The Frontline mod, also known as FalckonET, is a quite old mod, its last version was released over 2 years ago. The makers have apparently given up the project, that's a pity cause, with some modifications and improvements, that mod would definitely rock.
The Frontline is meant to be "more realistic" then the regular ET. The movement speed is a bit slower, the weapon firing rates are also more realistic and taken from real weapon statistic, delays between shots are random, weapons have recoil, and you can use ironsights...
Also, as the server name suggests, the mod supports drivable tanks. You can drive them, and fire either the mounted cannon and machine gun. Keep in mind, however, that the Q3 game engine isn't made for vehicles...So, despite the rest of the mod tends to realism, the tanks are a bit (a lot) unrealistic, they move erratically, get stuck often and so. But they still add fun to the gameplay.
You can read more about this mod at its official website here.
I've added two tanks to every map, except for the battery where there's not enough space for tanks to maneuver decently. There are two types of tanks, a Churchill (allied) tank and a Jagdpanther (axis) tank. Aside from the different look, the two types of tanks are identical, and both teams can drive them.
Tanks can be damaged, particularly a dynamite charge, a panzerfaust or the tank cannon itself can destroy them quickly. Once destroyed, the tank will respawn at its original place after 15 seconds.
Unfortunately the Frontline mod doesn't support XP save, or better, it doesn't support XP persisting to disk, so XP *will* save, but only as long as the server doesn't restart. So expect to have your XP reseted quite often.
The Tank Wars server has 10 slots only (which have been "taken" from the NoQuarter, lowered from 24 to 14 slots). It is located in San José, California.
